Saint Andrew Catholic School strives to balance the use of technology with classical education. Technology has a place in education but is not the main emphasis of education. At Saint Andrew technology is used in three major ways:
As a tool for teachers: Teachers have access to cutting edge technology to aide in educating students. All classrooms are outfitted with a SMART interactive whiteboard and/or projectors. In addition, all teachers are provided devices that allow them to run the latest applications and be productive throughout the day.
Integrated in Curriculum: Teachers are trained to use technology in ways that enhance their content areas. All classrooms have access to technology to assist with their education during the school year.
Technology Instruction: Students in 1st through 8th grade have computer instruction integrated into their school week. Students learn how computers are used in today's society and become responsible digital citizens. Students learn basic word processing and presentation software such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Keyboarding skills are introduced and reinforced throughout the year. Middle school students also expand their computer science skills with various coding programs.
