7th & 8th grade Theatre History students built Bunraku puppets to perform a Japanese folktale.
In 7th/8th Grade Foundations of Theatre/Theatre History, students will learn the basics of theatre and performance. Students will learn about stage directions, blocking techniques, and creative expression to explore movement onstage. Students will learn about the different technical aspects of theatre, such as costumes, makeup, lighting, sound, sets, and props. Students will also read, discuss, and analyze scenes from plays and learn about the elements of production from auditions to performance.
In Theatre History, students will study the history of different eras of theatre, including Greek, Roman, and Asian theatre; theatre from the Medieval and Elizabethan eras, Commedia d'ell Arte, and musical theatre. Students will complete projects from each era and genre.
This class is an elective that meets twice a week.
